woman-tenerife-bootWhen Mario Moretti Polegato after the initial vision of the Geox brand approached potential investors with his new patented rubber sole technology designed to produce what today the whole world knows as the “shoe that breaths” all he had in response was a lot of negative answers. He was so confident in his product that he started production himself in 1995 with a line of kids’ shoes to test the market, after a fantastic response he quickly moved to large-scale production extending the product to shoes for adults under the brand name of Geox. Geox becomes synonym with innovation in footwear technology and design, but Mario Moretti Polegato’s vision goes further and in 1999 Geox launches a line of garments called “Breathable Apparel”, which is produced with the same principle as the breathable soles and is designed to keep the body warm and dry without overheating. In 2000 Geox breaks through the international market with Geox shops popping up in main cities all over the world.

In 2001 the rubber sole technology is extended to leather soles, which enabled the Geox brand to offer an elegant collection as well as the casual line already in place.
